Lateral files offer more versatility and can be more efficient storage options than Vertical Files. Most are manufactured in
30", 36", 42" widths. Drawer configurations range from 2 drawer to 5 drawer units. Custom sized drawers to accommodate
storage media are available. Two and three drawer units are often topped with a laminate worsurface to provide a work area.
Storage solutions continue to evolve. One of the newer concepts is to accommodate personal and business storage needs in a a
work environment. Workout gear, iPods and business records can now share the same storage unit to optimize our shrinking personal
space.
The bookcase is still widely used as a storage option for books binders and files and personal items that are easily seen and accessible. Construction material can be either metal, laminate or veneer with fixed or adjustable shelves.
For years, pedestal files were tucked under desks and never moved. Mobile pedestals, not only allowed movement, but also opened
up a variety of options. Worksurfaces turned them into supports for faxes, copiers and printers. Upholstered tops allow
them to serve double duty as temporary seating.
